BackgroundArchitecture for Humanity is one of numerous organizations practicing open design. Design is a classic example of a top-down practice that has become horizontal. Through online collaboration people can share CAD (computer aided design) files and work together to modify designs doing the work of professional architects and designers. According to their site, Architecture for Humanity's Open Architecture Network will be a "gathering place for community designers and all those interested in improving the built environment."
