You often see people refer to the Lonely Planet as their bible when they're off travelling the globe, but guidebooks get out of date so quickly. That's where the crowd at forums like LP's Thorntree Forums come in. I've used them to get (often conflicting) advice in the past on things like where you'll be the only dirty smelly backpacker at any given time.
