Background

Jimmy Wales of Wikipedia says that instead of the hundreds of thousands of people we might imagine contributing information to the site, it’s actually written by just a few hundred people, known as "super-contributors."

Many crowdsourced sites are the work of a small group within a big crowd. The members of these groups of main participants are called super-contributors. Amanda Michel, our very own Director of Participation, wrote this post on super-contributors for NewAssignment.Net. We want to understand their motivations and learn more about what they do by interviewing one from the granddaddy of crowdsourced sites, Wikipedia.

Update: Emily Hanson interviewed Joe Mabel on Wednesday, April 11.
