Who Else Should We Interview?
Posted April 28th, 2007 by David Cohn
We want to get in touch with as many of the critical figures in the open source/crowdsourced world as possible.
Our list only scratches the surface. If you know someone that we should interview, let us know by leaving a comment below. If you want to be the person to interview them, mention that in the comment.

have you ever interveiwed a Paranormal Investigations Team?
Hello. My Name is Fire; this is my internet nickname online. I was wondering if you have ever taken a different view in interviewing? We would love you to interview a Paranormal Investigations Team, but not someone already famous like T.A.P.S. Did you know how much work and effort, compassion and dedication a real paranormal investigator must have to be able to offer their services? Especially for those that are not in the limelight of the field. We deal with a lot and help a lot. We offer help when sometimes nobody else would. Well anyway, that is just a big suggestion from us at Voices In the Dark Paranormal Investigations. Here is our mypace link, you really should read the article I wrote that only blazed the aspects of what it takes to do what we do. And my team, we love it!
With success,

Simon Phipps, Chief Open Source Officer
Phipps is Sun Microsystems chief of open source software, a strategy the company has fully committed to as key to its long term growth and profitability. Sun claims to be the single largest contributor to open source software of any institution on Earth. It would be great to get his perspective on the implications of open source for a Fortune 500 firm so steeped in open source culture.
Yaron Koren - Creator of Discourse DB, 'Semantic Forms'
Yaron Koren, based in Brooklyn, is involved in several relevant projects.
Two of his creations that work in tandem are Discourse DB and the 'Semantic Forms' extension for MediaWiki. Discourse DB is a wiki that organizes "the opinions of the world's journalists and commentators about ongoing political events and issues." (So this clearly fits well with the 'crowdsourced journalism' topic, one of the five main AZ focus areas.) It has a highly stuctured backend to map the "semantic" relationships of the data that users enter, but the most innovative feature of the site, the Semantic Forms extension, allows for a more intuitive user interface than most semantic applications. While the Semantic Forms extension is in a very early phase, it does look promising, and anyone can download it for use with his/her own MediaWiki-based wiki.
Another project is Betocracy, which Yaron is currently spending less time on but which remains active. It's billed as "the simplest way to create your own prediction markets in order to predict future outcomes such as year-end corporate revenues, or popular events like elections and sports competitions."
Since time is short and since I've been in contact with Yaron recently, I'll go ahead take care of the interview if nobody has objections.

How about Chris Larsen, CEO of Prosper.com? Prosper.com works like Kiva, which is on your list, but instead of being a nonprofit, lenders earn interest on the loans they make to other Americans. They claim it works like Ebay, except instead of bidding on items, users bid on interest rates.

Correction
Thanks to Raul, I found out that Jean Baudrillard passed away last month, so ... no chance for an interview with him.
Wu Ming
"Ho poche idee, ma fisse". Fabrizio de André
The authors of Manituana, a crowdsourced literary world, deserve an interview by ZA.
I could agree to interview one of them after their book presentation at Lugano, Switzerland, next 8th June. But maybe too late. Otherwise, here is the calendar of presentations in May, and perhaps someone else in Italy can take the assignment.
Wu Ming (live) interview
OK, just sent a emails to some friends in Italy to see if someone can/want to interview the WuMing colletive ASAP -- best will be next Friday, when they'll present their book at Turin Book Fair (Italy's main book fair with a large coverage); I see they got already pretty good reviews and interviews over there...what about an email interview?
thanks, ciao

WuMing reply
Hi, I've received WuMing1 reply: WuMing writers accept our interview, but WM1 asks me to send him questions by email and in case to phone him to integrate answers.
Bye,
a.
Awesome
Just let me know if something happens with this. That would be a great interview to nab. I'll create an assignment for it the second I get a confirmation from somebody. Thanks Bernardo.
